In the Spring of 2012, a group of Teens4Oceans students and teachers traveled to Akumal, Mexico. Teens4Oceans discussed with scientists at the Centro Akumal Ecologica how to deploy T4O technologies to aid in sea turtle research. Teens4Oceans is building an IP-based communications buoy that will integrate serial receivers into their IP platform to monitor the movement of motile organisms that have been outfitted with acoustic tags. Teens4Oceans plans to return to Akumal in 2013 to install this buoy networking system.
